Friday March 15, 2013 San Diego County Sheriff’s Department Poway San Diego DUI checkpoint and driver’s license checkpoint at a presently secret location in the city of Poway, California, warn San Diego DUI attorneys


San Diego DUI criminal defense attorneys learned today that the San Diego Sheriff's Department will undergo another major countermeasure by implementing a DUI / driver's license checkpoint.

On Friday March 15, 2013, from 7:00 p.m. to Saturday March 16, 2013, at 3:00 a.m., deputies from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department Poway Station will be conducting a San Diego DUI checkpoint and driver’s license checkpoint at a presently secret location in the city of Poway, California, warn San Diego DUI lawyers.

According to the San Diego California Sheriff's Department's website, the primary intent of this DUI checkpoint is to educate the public of the dangers associated with drinking and driving; additionally, this DUI checkpoint will serve as a deterrent to potentially impaired or drunk drivers.

Finally, this San Diego DUI checkpoint provides an important governmental service by promoting public safety. The focus of the San Diego DUI checkpoint operation will be the apprehension of suspects who are determined to be operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and / or under the influence of drugs or driving while unlicensed or driving on a suspended driver's license.

San Diego DUI checkpoints consist of Drunk Driving trained deputies who claim to be able to evaluate driver’s abilities to safely operate motor vehicles.

This California DUI checkpoint is funded by a drunk driving grant through the Office of Traffic Safety. The Office of Traffic Safety and local Law Enforcement urge drivers to "Report drunk drivers, Call 911."
